A visit to the Hawkes Bay is incomplete without tasting the award-winning wines are created here, and your tour will include exclusive wine tastings at both Blackbarn Vineyard and at Ngatarawa, where you’ll be personally guided by Head Winemaker Peter Gough. In the mornings, wake up in your luxury accommodation to a beautiful breakfast overlooking the vines, with coffee from Rocket to fuel you for the day ahead. Bliss.

Arrival Day 1

On arrival at Napier airport you will be met by a Ventouro staff, depending on time we may stop by Napier the Art-Deco city of New Zealand on our way to your Black Barn retreat set in the Tuki Tuki valley. Here you will really start your holiday overlooking the vines followed by a meal with our in-house chef that will set the standard for our week ahead. Lodging: Black Barn Retreat

Day 2

Landscapes Ride Cape Kidnappers
Distance 55km, Grade 1 - 2 Easiest/Easy
Today is the first full day of the trip, from the doorstep of our Black Barn lodge we will ride a fabulous loop to Haumoana onto Te Awanga then Clifton. Here we get expansive views of Cape Kidnappers. We then return on the other side of the Tuki Tuki river with a short stop in Havelock North, before returning via Red Bridge.

Day 3

Water ride - Napier
50km, Grade 1 Easiest
With a short transfer into Napier we start our ride at the bustling seaside village of Ahuriri, where coffee is usually first on the agenda. We head north towards Westshore and onto Bay View, before heading inland along the pleasant limestone trails. The trail loops back towards Napier Airport, then it's a short ride onto the renowned Church Road winery. After lunch we continue the trail back to the coast arriving at Awatoto.

Day 4

Te Mata Peak - Vineyards ride
35- 55km, Grade 2 - 3 Easy/Intermediate
A trip to Hawkes Bay is never complete without summiting the Sleeping Giant (Te Mata Peak) and for those keen on a challenge the 6km 399m peak offers a very rewarding view. If you are keen to save your energy we will also drive up the peak, so everyone gets to experience the 360° views over the Hawkes Bay. After gliding the slopes into Havelock North we loop through the Hawke’s Bay’s western wine growing area, where we will end our day at Ngatarawa Winery.

Day 5

Havelock North to Napier - Beach front

Distance 25km, Grade 1 Easy
We will depart your retreat after a relaxed breakfast and head into the quaint village of Havelock North, from here we will head along trail towards the sea, with fruit trees on one side and the Tuki Tuki river on other. The final part of the journey is along the seaside path before arriving into Napier to the iconic Norfolk Palms that line the main road. Here we will have lunch before heading for the airport or if you prefer to stay a night in town we will drop you at you accommodation.
